About the Center for COPD research (CeKOL)

The newly established research project will in the upcoming years explore new strategies for optimizing the treatment of COPD - chronic obstructive pulmonary disease - from transgenic animal models via clinical studies to economical outcome of enhanced monitoring of progress and treatment of disease by novel biomarkers.

The research project will be implemented in collaboration between researchers and clinicians from the University of Southern Denmark, Odense University Hospital, University of Copenhagen, Hvidovre Hospital, general practice and hospitals in the Region of Southern Denmark.

The Danish Council for Strategic Research has in 2010 granted 16.6 million Danish kroner to the research project, which will explore the opportunities to optimize the management of COPD. Furthermore, the project has also been funded by the Region of Southern Denmark and the Danish Lung Association.
